- Of 146,752 low risk women, those who gave birth at home had lower (by more than half) rates of severe, acute maternal morbidity or really bad outcomes, postpartum hemmorrhage, and manual placenta removal.
- Birth is not a medical process, and taking it into the hospital, contrary to being safer, is likely to introduce changes to the natural course of labor that will necessitate riskier interventions.
